Try and find a used Martha Josey made by Circle Y, sometimes you can find a really nice used one under a 1000.00 Have you checked out the ads on here? |

I bet a Martha Josey will work for you and they are a really nice saddle and built good, I like the older ones better then the new ones, they are built better and have better leather then the new ones, but thats just my thoughts, check on tacktrader and see what they have. |

I have 2 of their 'Pro' series. Amazing saddles, I'll put them up against anything out there for quality....Coats, Martin, Double J.. They're not a mass produced saddle, everything is hand tooled and built.
They do have 2 lines, I haven't riden the 'Competitor' series. They aren't made in the same shop. |

*Billy is awesome at fitting saddles
The NRS Saddle Shop is home of the NRS Pro Series Saddles and Tack line. The saddle shop is strategically located only feet from the arena dirt. NRS built the saddle shop to bring the production of quality tack under the same roof as some of the best horsemen in the industry.
Experienced saddle makers, Billy and Lou Cogsdil, work closely with the NRS Pro Series Development Team to create some of the best fitting, riding and looking saddles in the industry. Garrett Williams, strap shop manager, also plays a tactical role in the leather shop with his crafty designs of belts, saddle accessories, gun holsters and knife sheaths.
The NRS Saddle Shop is made up of a family of artisans that mold each piece of leather into a work of art. They only use the best materials to ensure longevity, beauty and in the case of saddles, safety. With the proper care, products from our saddle shop should last generations. They use American hides tanned in American tanneries like Hermann Oak and Wickett & Craig. Stainless steel hardware is the cherry on top of the leather work to reinforce complete satisfaction.
There are no assembly lines in this saddle shop. Each saddle, belt, knife sheath, gun holster is created from the hands of one craftsman. Everyone is experienced and skilled in his or her own craft – from the design, cutting, sewing and tooling. Satisfaction is guaranteed with all the products that are created in the saddle shop. |

Location: NC | I love a Pro Rider. You can get their bare bones model for under $1000 brand new. Great folks to work with. And those saddles have a great resale value.
I've only ridden in a Pro Rider or Simco type saddle. So I guess I just don't know any better, but I really like mine. |
