My sister is looking at a kid's horse today. It apparently has one hock in the process of fusing. Our vet says they rarely fuse on their own and that injections will be the necessary maintenance. The owner's vet told them two months and it will be fused....
The horse will be mainly jogging in equitation classes and loping barrels and poles with two little girls for about 5 years.
Injections and maintenance won't be a problem but ending up with a perpetual problem will be.
Anyone with hock fusing experience?
my horse has one hock fusing - fusing for over a year now - not completed other hock is n ot fusing....... as long as you keep them injected and pain free it should not be an issue.
