I am trying out a horse and he is a really good match for me. He is 7 years old and we took him to get a vet check and he was diagnosed with Sesamoiditis in both front legs. He had really long toes but we got them trimmed, the vets we took him to think that it could be a factor. It was said that he was only started on barrels last year and taken slowly. The lady we might purchase him from is selling him because he doesn't fit her when she asks to go fast. Lots of people we have talked to have never heard of this disease. It is more common in race horses. It makes the horse not compete at their highest level, but they can still compete, but not quite the caliber that they could without it. It is said that horses can still compete, since it rarely ends their careers, but it has a chance of coming back. He is not lame at the moment. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this or treated this?
