We do ANHA every year, my experience with NBHA big events has not been good.

I'm having a hard time justifying the drive to Waco when Glen Rose is so close to me.

Pros for ANHA.
1. Lots more added $$$$
2. No late fees
3. Can enter up to last 25  (Moonshine has the damn NBHA dumb rule that you must enter before the 1st horse runs).  For some reason that rule on top of a late fee makes me want to justify the drive to Waco.

I haven't had a good experience with NBHA and when I see one of their races, I usually skip over it.

I just submitted my entry in for ANHA.  I am running three so I wanted to get it in early so I am for sure going to get the spots I asked for.  I am not staying there-just driving back and forth.  I may change my mind on it but the weather will dictate that decision for me.  For sure the horses and I would stay off site if I did stay.  I am really hoping this mild weather comes around that weekend.  I hate pre-entering in the middle of summer...

However, I am super excited to go-this is my first time running ANHA!!

When we first moved down to Texas, about 18 years ago, NBHA was awesome and now it seems to be a bit of a joke. Just my observation.

Well yeah, but I only live 5 miles from Glen Rose and only have a green 4 yo to haul... LOL!  Otherwise it would be ANHA for sure! TX19 shows that I've gone to have been great...but I hate the rule about entering early.  Other than that district (mostly because of the director) I see no point in supporting them.  They're stuck running things the way they did 15 years ago.

I love the ANHA, always a good show and you never hear any complaints about it. Any thing to do with NBHA I stay away from, when NBHA started up years ago it was great then all the rules it has now adays... I am a member of NBHA still cause I've been with it so darn long, did have really good times with it many many years ago..

Can u tell me the negatives of nbha? I'm not a member so I'm not sure what you are talkn about. I was leaning towards glen rose bc it's closer and I'm just takn a colt but now I don't know. I can handle preentering that doesn't bother me but what else is bad? My main concern is the ground. I can usually handle the office stuff

All the NBHA's Dist. are different, since you are a non member you may have to pay a non member fee to run. And for points if you are a member you have to work to keep your points if you are riding for awards, there is a dress code, since I have not been to NBHA races in awhile I'm not really sure what is going on now adays.  But there is so many awesome barrel races now adays that have a large payout that I would rather go to when I have the chance to run.

For me it is a matter of principal. NBHA does not seem to like Texas very much and I have witnessed some pretty poor behavior from the higher ups in the home office of NBHA towards our district directors and state officers. They treated the most recent state director terrible while she was trying to put on the Texas NBHA state show. I have too many choices and choose not to support NBHA after what they did to my local district.

I did the NBHA at glenrose in march and it only got 100 entries or so and I paid like$130 for one run because I had to buy a NBHA membership.. Thought I would go to more races to justify it, but nope. I will be doing ANHA this year even though I have a horse that has gotten a few 1D checks from the Jurassic Classics... Hopefully with winnmore and bbr coming in the fall Glenrose will go back to the top.

They've been doing weekly jackpots at Glen Rose and getting a pretty decent turnout.  Ground has been really nice.  Last week they had 73 in the jackpot.
I'm hopeful for more big producers to move in..... great to see the BBR regional there, WinMore... Love to see more like that.

I really wanted to run at the Moonshine, only because I live 10mins away.... But I have learned that the NBHA director who is putting the race on is having her ground crew working it...... That changes things for me. If the ground crew of the expo were there working it the ground would be a lot better. I might go up the Friday night and decide from there.

Definitely ANHA!! It's a great barrel race all the way around!! They always have great added money, saddles buckles etc..... Plus it's easy to enter and they will take in account of what will be a good "time" for you to run within an hour or so if possible. And if nothing else the no late fee with great ground is a sale for me!!

Yes, separate race on Saturday and Sunday, you can enter just for the day but if you want to try and make the finals you must enter both days.  The finals is on Monday.  They take the top 15 in each D both days back to the finals.   How this race differs is in the finals you are just competing against your D, doesn't matter what the winning 1D time is in the finals.  They take your qualifying time and your finals time for the winning average time so the higher you place in your D the better your chances are in the finals.
