I have a 3yr old deep sixum / nicks city britches (daughter of dr nick bar) who is right at 14h..most of the deep sixum horses I've seen are huge and his mom is right at 15h... So I was wondering if there is anyway to tell if he's still gonna grow ? Any supplement I could give him to help ? He's on pasture 24/7 plus triple crown training and hay.. I know not to let him get too fat because that will stop growth. My farrier said the weight he's at now is perfect but Any advice would be great!
-thanks(:

I was taught the old farmers rope test, find the point of the elbow, and the ergot, measure the distance, then that distance from the elbow to the end is where they will end up.

I have tested this on all my mature horses and they are even. I tested my 3 yr old last year, she was even, this year she has an inch to grow thank goodness as she is only 14 hands too, she is a granddaughter of dash ta fame, her sire is 15.3, dam is 15 hands no idea how she became a midget.

I've hear DNB's are slow to mature. I've had several horses from other bloodlines grow 2" after their 4th birthday.   Really don't think there is anything you can do to change growth rate that's healthy.
