| I bought a new horse a few months back, I knew she was a bleeder, but I was told it was controlled by Lasix. I have dealt with bleeders before so this did not scare me given the talent of this mare. Well she is bleeding thru Lasix despite following all the normal protocols. While I love my vet, he just blows me off on the bleeding. Says give her 30 days of, antibiotics and start again conditioning. I know there are other things you can try with a bleeder so I'm seeking a vet in Texas that is aggressive and knowledgable about treating bleeders if anyone knows one. Thanks!

Location: Texas | All my. Vet told me was to at with the dosage and the timing of giving the lasix. I also decided to give a feed through supplement (bleed block) to double protect him. My thought is that many people can use these products and not have to use lasix so if I double up he would be even more covered. |

I went to a vet in South Ms, My horse was bleeding thru 6-7cc of lasix - I am talking about coughing up blood bad - Gave my horse 2 months off after my last bad bleed to let him heal - had to use 2 rounds of antibiotics to finally get him clear and healed, Verified via scoping
This vet here got me Kentucky Red (which is an antihemorrhagic) to use along with my lasix - SUCCESS!
I would find a track vet if you cant find someone who specializes with performance horses
I use 5cc lasix and 5cc kentucky red (4 hrs out IV) |

Location: California | Ask the vet about giving 1/2 cc (tab) ace. It was recommended to me by one of my track vets but check with your vet first. |
