Location: wherever my gypsy soul lands | Looking for advice from BBs who live in Mississippi or Louisiana. I'm looking to buy a small chunk of land to build on. Problem is that I can't decide on a good area. I'd like to be in one of the two states mentioned so I can have a better opportunity to run all year round consistently. What are the good, bad, or otherwise of the areas you all live in? |

Location: USA | Lafayette, LA was voted #1 happiest place in America. Matter of fact, I think the top 5 were all in Louisiana. Yay for my home state =) I'm not familiar with the barrel community in MS, but I'm pretty sure it's decent in South LA. I know there are quite a few big barrel races in both states. Sorry, I'm not much help, but I definitely vote Louisiana - however, I am biased

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | The Southern half of Mississippi has tons of barrel races year round with good added money. I'm not sure about northern half but I think they have quite a few too. |

| I know it was not one of your two options but Tennessee is great and we barrel race year around here too. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | I'm from LA. If I could pick, I would say the Lafayette/Opelousas area or somewhere around north west LA....close to TX. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | Pick somewhere that has hills. The swamps in the flatlands are full of snakes and skeeters and gators. |

What part of TN are you in? I've only ever drove through TN so I'm not too familiar with it. |

Location: Southwest Louisiana | South west LA is where it's at (but I'm biased too). Lots of races around here, plus we're close to races in TX. Where I am in Beauregard parish (county) the land is high, slightly hilly and very quiet. And if you happen to need the best vet in the entire south, Dr Findley is right there in Vinton, LA, next to the TX border.
Land here is pretty cheap too. We bought 20 high and dry, slightly hilly acres with 2 ponds for $60k (10 years ago). But there is still land here for great prices. I've been to walmart here on more than one occasion and have seen people grocery shopping in their boots and spurs, and no one gives them weird looks, lol. |
