I am thinking of getting my mare some soft rides but I would like to know the benefits. They are pricey. She is barefoot and does well most of the time, but there are times when she has to be trimmed a little close or the weather has her feet soft and she may get sore if she has to be on hard surfaces. My question is would she benefit from
Soft Rides?? The concept seems like a great idea. Also can I exercise her in them. Light exercise long trotting at most?? Any and all opinions and input!!

Soft Rides are excellent.. one of the best investments you can make, in my opinion! My horse has shoes and still enjoys soft rides. They can be used to haul in, stall in, use when tying to the trailer is on asphault, concrete or gravel... the uses are unlimited!

If the horse gets sore feet I would look into getting shoes on the front. But soft rides are a great product but I wouldn't do anything more than a walk in them for shorter distances they are heaving and a horse can easily step wrong in them when trotting. They are rather heavy. I put mine on whenever I am traveling

I love soft rides. They are heavy and I wouldn't recommend long trotting in them. My mare travels in them. The general blue inserts are made to support. They have different inserts for things like navicular and founder. I used mine to haul 28 hours to Vegas last summer, my mare stepped off the trailer like the ride was nothing. She was fresh, she felt good, and was in great condition when compared with the 3 other horses that hauled with us and didn't have the soft rides.
I believe Cavallo has some boots that are more for protection purposes. They are also lighter. I think they are about the same price range as well.

Thanks for the info! I'd like to stay away from shoes if possible. I know that's always an option. The soreness she has isn't often enough to Warrener shoes just yet I just want something to take away the occasions when she is sore. Sometimes it's unavoidable.
