I support the Presidents decision to use our military strength and approve air strikes in Iraq.

Although my son is not in Iraq his roommate and brother in arms is in Iraq.  We believe he will be heading north to call in airstrikes.    If you could please pray for him.    His name is Aaron and I love him dearly.  His dog is staying with us while he serves our country.    Thank you for your prayers.

I will pray for your friend and your son. While I agree with the air strikes I think it is to little and too late. Give the Curds the arms they have been screaming for months and Fly air cover for them.

I also support the air strikes in Iraq and all of our troops are in my prayers.

I would love to know why the US seems to be the only country that steps up to the plate while other countries turn their backs? I guess, even though Obama hates us for the very same thing that sets us apart from the rest of the world. We are exceptional.

Sending prayers.

And it's time to kick the useless UN out of our country.

While they were out in the open in the desert, it would have been the perfect time to strike and nip this BS in the bud.
I'm actually surprised he did something.

The Kurds never ran. Bagdad has never let them have any of the money or arms that we supplied. The Kurds have always been on our side and have helped us in both wars in Iraq. Why they still like us is beyond me we screw them every time. So yeah I say give them the arms and let them fight.

OK .. This weeks argument... Have we not learned our lesson in 'giving arms' to people in the Middle East?? 1st example... Arming the Mujaheddin in their fight against Russia.. (only to have them turn against us after it was over) Once you give them away.. we have no control what they do with them... but we are still responsible for what they do with the arms..

Never mind... That's not what this post is about... Hopes and Prayers to our troops over there....

Military experts agree with you.  Instead of the few airstikes done yesterday, suggestions leaned more toward hammering the bejeebers out of them.
I'm with NTO why does it all fall on the U.S.  We're trying to feed half our country who doesn't want to work, one-third of Central America crossing our border and now those oppressed in Iraq.  Come on guys, jump in here and help.

I'm curious....did anyone here happen to catch Hannity's interviews with BeBe Netanyahu last week? I watched them twice, because he summed up perfectly the fact that humanity is at a critical crossroads. Everything BeBe said was undeniable.

I'm afraid Obama's decision may be too little too late. I agree with the air strikes, but the real question is, will it make a difference in the long run?
Our enemies across the globe are on the march and saber-rattling. Why is this? I think they realize that there no longer is a strong, resolute leader of the free world. It may be a tough pill to swallow, but that's how I see it.

This is just pure evil.  No other way to describe it.  If something like this cannot galvanize the world to rise up and obliterate these monsters, then humanity is in deep trouble.  It's high time that someone speak out and challenge the UN to do the right thing, in the name of decency and mankind.  That requires a true leader.  More than speak up, he/she has to find a way to get it done.  It's been done before, very successfully.  Back when Hussein invaded Kuwait, Bush put together a coalition, the likes of which the world has never seen.  He even brought fellow arab countries into the coalition.  We can debate over whether he should have taken it all the way to Baghdad, but that's not the point.  The point is, as I said earlier, someone has to  step up, and right now, other than perhaps Netanyahu, the world is leaderless.  Our very existence depends on it.

Itsme - 2014-08-10 2:12 PM Saddam would have crushed these guys from day 1...

There was discussion in this household this morning over this.  It always true when you remove a dictator, that you might get something worse.  ISIS is worse....because they want something no one else does that is not an extremist....they want a Caliphate.

Our prayers are always with our troops, and we would love to believe we would see peace in the mideast in our life time....not going to happen.

It's pretty basic really... The Saudi's would not allow it.... They never wanted what they have today... Saudi is Sunni... Iran is Shia... They don't get along very well... Iraq under Saddam had a Shia majority but was ruled by Sunnis... Thus it was acting as a buffer between between Iran and Saudi.. The Saudis wanted to keep the Sunnis in power there so they would not have to deal with a Shia ruled nation on their border..
