| what do you do to keep your horse's sore joints "happy"? I'm looking for a reasonably priced, yet effective joint management plan :) THANKS!! | |

| Inject when needed, about once a year for my horses, and I alternate pentosan gold and polyglycan every two weeks if I am going a lot. | |

I inject as needed, and feed an oral joint supplement. I really am not sure if the joint supplement does anything. It doesn't extend my injection intervals but it gives me peace of mind I guess.
Also, the horses with known joint issues run on previcox.
And I exercise them differently. I don't like to stall up horses with arthritis so they get out as much as possible. I don't do a lot of hard work with them during the week. I also pick and choose where they run and make the runs count.. As much as it stinks sometimes when theres a bunch of races going on, the horses I know who have issues just don't get to haul as much.
I currently don't use any IV/IM shots but I may start again. I used to use them a lot and when I stopped and my joint injections still lasted just as long, I didn't really start back. But I have a pretty special horse right now, and if there's a chance they make her more comfortable I will cough up the $$$ | |
