They are definitely no cheaper than Walmart. I went in one last night to buy cat litter and detergent because I didn't feel like walking through the 47856 acre Walmart. I gave in to an impulse for a box of Whoppers. Got home started eating them, and they tasted like that "Dollar General smell". I threw them out. Great diet plan, LOL. |

| Our's is like a 10000000000 times better than our Wal Mart. it is clean, organized, well lit, workers are fast friendly and all around a good experience when you go in. Our Wal Mart does not have half of what you need when you need it. The people are rude the self checkers are always down or will not take credit cards. I could go on for ever. |

When Reese Witherspoon was in town filming a movie, she shopped at Dollar General insead of Fred's (we have no Wal mart no mo')...big mistake, bless her heart. |

Aside from the smell, this one is better than the Walmart near it. For starters, I don't get run over in the parking lot, it's not 48675 acres under roof, the people working there are helpful and usually it's older people in there that also don't want to go to Walmart...
If it just didn't have that "smell"..... |

Ours is/are relatively well organized. I can get t-shirts to clean stalls in for like $2 this time of year on clearance....gotta wash them first because of the "smell"....LOL! |

Location: Slipping down the slope of old age. Boo hoo. | Our local Dollar General does not have a bad odor, but it's pretty unorganized and cram packed with stuff. I do purchase garbage bags, washing detergent, paper towels and tissue there -- it's cheaper than Wally World. Last year I stopped at a new Dollar General in northwest Arkansas and it was incredible! A larger store with a great lay-out, everything was in order and on the shelves -- not in boxes stacked on the floor -- it had super bright lighting -- I just stood there for a moment after walking in -- amazed. It was an awesome store and -- ready -- it had lots of workers who stood ready to assist you AND did step up and ask if they could help or find something for you. In our store it is usually only the checker. Perhaps I had stopped to shop on another planet, but it was one of the nicest stores of any brand I had ever stepped inside. |

| Our DG is ok. It's the employees that are the problem. Slow as molasses in January, and I don't mean in the short bus way. They're just super, SUPER slow! Our Walmart is a super Walmart crammed into the space of a regular one. I hate going there. So. Much. |

The grocery department of the Walmart here sometimes smells like farts. Very widespread, spanning many aisles, unlikely to be of human origin. |

We have two, one in my town and a brand new one by my parents. Both are really nice but the older one is less than a year old. They're both nice and laid out the same way so I use them both regularly. I hate wal-mart and avoid ours at all costs, so I'll gladly pay a little more (some times but generally it's less) to avoid the store. I planned practically a whole baby shower from one and it was not cheap or ugly at all. I was really surprised at how much I ended up getting from there. And they're awesome for pantry stock ups if you watch the sales. |
