I'm sure you guys have seen my million posts about my recently diagnosed navicular horse. Friday (8/8) I had her RF (lesion on nav. bone) coffin injected and she was put on Previcox (1/2 227mg tab that day, 1/4 since). She gets 1/4 Previcox in the AM and FlamOxide in the PM (until I can get some NitrOxide here). Today will be day 3 that she is about 1-2/5 lame in the AM and less than 1/5 lame in the PM (almost 100%. Like off only every few steps if that). Does it have something to do with when I give her the meds? Maybe in the morning since its been 24hrs since her last dose? (I though tit had to build up in their system so why would it matter?)

Also those that use previcox, if you up the dose for a run, what do you up it to and when til when?

I'm working on getting either PHT or BOT bells, NitrOxide and hoof boots for when she is not on soft ground to try to get her 10)% all the time instead of just at night lol.

Is she in a stall at night?  Horses with navicular (arthritis) are kept more sound and less sore if they are not kept in a stall.  Then standing around and not moving lets the joint get stove up, if you will.  Keep her turned out 24/7 if possible and it should help her stay more sound.

She lives out in the pasture with my other 2. I bring everyone up twice a day for feeding, riding, dring and whatever else I can think to do with them lol but they all stay out day and night.

Thank you!!

Okay, was just a thought since she was sore in the AM and not in the PM.. thought maybe she worked it out after you turned her out.. back to the drawing board!  LOL!

She probably moves around less at night (even if she is turned out) and therefore that is why she is a bit sorer in the AM.

Did I read your post correctly- you only injected one foot? I would say 90% of the time it needs to be addressed in both feet, jmo. I am guessing she could be experiencing secondary lameness now that the right foot has the inflamtion releived somewhat?

Excellent advise Mrs. Lane.. Not sure why I didn't catch that.  Maybe you should be the tech!  LOL!

Yes when we did the lameness exam and blocked her RF she did come up slightly off in the LF but slightly to the point of I couldn't see it anymore only the vet could. At the time A) I didn't know if I had full custody of the horse and didn't want to pour too much into her that day knowing I probably wouldn't ever see the money if her owners decided they wanted her and B) with what my bill was at I couldn't afford to make it to the next payday if I injected both so I picked the most important. I do plan on going back ASAP to get the left done also though.

I didn't think the left could make THAT much of a difference but you are correct I'm sure once her right gets back to feeling 10)% again that left will stick out to her.

You might want to check with Bob at THE. I know that there are some things you can not give along with THE.
