Location: Bastrop, Texas | I have a football sized wasp nest full of nasty mean ass red wasps. Both Carol and I have been nailed by these buggers. I've dumped two big cans of wasp spray (one was the foaming stuff) and all it did was pis$ them off and make them bigger and meaner. I've been told Dawn dish soap and water will work. Any other suggestions?
Im on a mission! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Sounds like Hornets that you guys have, I use RealKill its for Hornets and Wasp's. I always the soak the heck out of them then I pull the nest down with a rock rack. Dont leave the nest up. I have the spray in every building I have out here and also keep cans on my gator and goft car. I have Wrasp and hornets really bad out here and got to keep the spray handy.

Location: Texas | Dish detergent and water does work. Just mix in a glass and throw it on the nest usually after dark when they return to the nest. My husband uses it for wasp nests on the AC units but if they are aggressive I would rather use the spray that you can shoot from a distance. |

| I found a guy on FB who was advertising removal. He came and took it down, put it in a pillow case in the back of the car.....you couldn't PAY me to catch a ride with them with that thing in the back! They remove the venom from them and sell it. Maybe you could find someone local to you? If you have poisoned them too much, that is.
Good luck you. I got hit by two or three of them in the shoulder and it literally knocked me down....like getting hit by a baseball bat! |

Yep, the big, bald faced hornets... the kind that make the big paper football nests in the trees. These guys would catch all kinds of wasps and hornets....demand for the venom comes from the medical field, I think. |

Location: Oklahoma | I bought something at the feed store and it's the best wasp spray I've used. Drops them as soon as it hits them. We just soak the nest and all the ones we see.....it's worked if we can find the nest. Doesn't work so well if you're just hitting random wasps....other than it will drop them when they dive bomb you. It's called Bonide Wasp and Hornet Killer. Trusted since 1926 is what it says on the label. Here is what else it says: - Prevents nesting
- Jet spray will reach nests up to 20' above ground
- Kills Wasps, Honets, & Carpenter Bees on contact
- Kills the entire nest
- Dielectric Breakdown Voltage of 47,300 Volts (whatever that means....)

Unless I miss my guess... the spray will act as an insulator up to that voltage.... Then the insulating properties start to break down and it will conduct electricity. 47k volts is not all that much so be careful about spraying open wiring.

start looking for other smaller nests! we thought we just had one big giant nest. knocked that one out and discovered smaller nests in a build! didn't even think to look for them until I watched my dog being chased off of our deck by these mean little things! |

| So I walk out yesterday to do chores. take 3 steps off the deck and BAM! I get stung in the top of my head. I get away, turn around and look and the is a hugh paper nest hanging low in the tree I have been walking under everyday......when did they build that??!
So while I was gone, at a rodeo, hubby soaked it last night in wasp spray and ether, then set it on fire. Hopefully they were all home at the time.
What's the deal with the wasps this year? |

we were at a pool party and the family just bought a slide for their pool and the kids were going down it all day. all of the sudden there is a kid screaming bloody murder, got stung by a yellow jacket while going into the pool.. We hadn't seen one at all. the kids were scooting around that slide all day and then we see a football sized nest under their new slide that they bought a week ago.... what the heck
they must move pretty dang quick!! |

Strange as it sounds... gasoline on the sting stops it in it's tracks... I used to be like you. I'd get stung on the finger and my whole arm would swell up.... Then I took the advice of an old man back home in Missouri and one time I got stung on the arm and I had a can of gas close by. I soaked a rag and held it on the sting for about 5 mins. It never got any larger than a skeeter bite and it has worked every time since. I guess the gas is absorbed into the skin and it neutralizes the venom as it pass by. |
