| I need ya'll expertise. I have a bay mare with sugar bars and sunfrost on her papers and need help what to breed to this spring. My mare is 15 hands and is calm and quick on her feet. My budget is around $1000. Barrel arenas in my area are only about 120x220 so not massive. I've been looking at Firewater Finale and A Streak of Fame but not sure how either will cross with her. Any ideas?

Please tell us more about what your perfect foal would be like and where your mare doesn't contribute.
How important is disposition to you? You can be the best colt rider in the world but if you work 3 jobs you aren't going to have time to get a tough one broke and keep it ridden. That might mean you'd be better off trading some speed for some disposition. On the other hand, if you have some time and love riding racebred colts, that's the way I'd go with her. Maybe something like Cartel Feature or Perks Alive?
Your mare is really cute. |

| well... i'd like to have another one just like my mare!! minus the stifle injury lol! She is calm and cool and can sit for months without me riding and i can just go hop on.. but she still has that edgyness too her... but in a safe way lol! I want a safe one... i'm getting to old to the crazies! I dont mind hopping or bolting or a lil hot... i just dont want the buckers, rearers, fippers, broncy types.. Also the winters here are pretty harsh so there is about 4-5 months i dont ride in the winter. And i dont have an indoor so any rainy day i can't ride so i'd say disposition is probably more important than speed... i hate saying that though! lol!
I was eyeing Perks Alive this morning but i havent heard much about them... i will probably start breaking the horse myself then send it off for barrel training and fine tuning.
Thanks for the compliment i really like her :) and her personality is the sweetest thing. if she had her way she would follow me around all day to just be near me and watch me. And thanks for replying!! |

Location: GA | I haven't even looked at the mare's pedigree, but wanted to comment that Perks Alive is one of my favorites! I have one that is incredibly smart and has the perfect mix of speed + good mindedness. I have heard this about Perks Alive colts owned by others, as well. If you do a little research, you'll see that they are WINNING!! :) |

| My husband wants me to stay more cow than running lines...
so what all do you think of this hypothetical cross? Would your purchase a horse like this?

| I'd highly recommend MP Jet to the Sun! His babies are BREATHTAKING and so far, the colts I've seen have been very good natured, almost on the lazy side. Not to mention they are selling pretty well too!
