Ok so this is my mare that I have had for a while. She was my one and only through high school rodeo and had to do everything. I have given her the last two years off to unwind and be a trail/ranch/rope horse. This was my first jackpot in that time and she has freed up and relaxed a ton. Also in that time I have become a more quiet rider. That being said I still dont know what to run her in. I can slow work her in anything including a smooth snaffle but she gets really strung out on the back side with speed. This run was in my short shank ed wright(twisted) and I think thats too much. Thinking of running in the smooth ring snaffle with a tiedown? What do you guys do with your ratey horses.

Also very proud of this run because although we hit the second(the dredded barrel) it was on the backside and two years ago was always going into.

You are setting up to soon let your leg set to the barrel then just help your mare turn the barrel. Don't touch her till she gets there. Trust her.

what about a smooth jr cowhorse?

If I need more than a snaffle but still a "light" bit I usually go to a jr cowhorse in whatever mouth piece the horse prefers.
