| Starting Sunday night I found myself unable to sleep at all. I would start to fall asleep and then start feeling like I couldn't breathe or swallow. Finally passed out sunday night after about an hour or 2.
Yesterday I felt "OK" but then half way through the day at work I started feeling really tired/out of it. Had about a 15 min period where I got the same breathing/cant swallow thing.
Last night (monday night) I could NOT sleep again. Laid in bed for 2 hours tossing and turning. Everyime I started to fall asleep, I would JERK wide awake. Like my whole body would twitch/jerk me awake.
Today at work I had the worst attack yet... struggled for about an hour to calm myself down. Felt like I couldnt breathe, swallow, light headed, etc.
Is this normal for anxiety ? Is this a panic attack, etc ? I still feel out of it right now but less shakey... |

Just to be safe, make an appointment with your physician. It could just be panic/stress related but better safe than sorry.
Prayers. |

| This sound exactly like that I had, I would fall asleep but be awake after about an hour and would be awake for the rest of the night. I talked with my Doctor and I was placed on a low dose of Paxil. I feel WORLDS different, I never really noticed it until it go really bad like you are experiencing for example I found myself yelling at my husband because he cut a horse down that got himself hung up and it I was upset over nothing related to that at all. It was that I was over tired and wound tight. Trust me that it is not worth going through life feeling like that I have the Paxil and some counseling sessions on how to calm myself down and it has helped tremendously. |

| Stay away from the caffeine as much as possible, it only makes the attacks worse. Pop, coffee, chocolate, anything with caffeine. Also eating gluten free may help, I've never tried it but a friend of mine said it helped her. You might try taking some magnesium until you can get to the doctor. three times a day with a meal. Chamomile Tea helps at night. Exercise is a good release for me too, a good jog and it seems to settle the nervous stomach. Good Luck and I am so sorry you are dealing with that.

Location: Midwest | Sounds like anxiety to me. Go to a doctor and pull blood to rule out something else physical, like thyroid. If that pulls clean I'd try seeing a psychiatrist.
You are not alone. It's more common than you might think. I've dealt with similar issues myself and feel free to pm me |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Your PH body balance is out of whack the body leans acidic when your eating the wrong food and alkalized when eating the right foods. Look on line for body ph and read about it. You can change your condition by eating more green foods. As in fruit and vegatables. |

| Thank you everyone for all of the responses! It hasn't been fun feeling so out of it, and no sleeping.
Last night I was able to sleep for the first time in awhile (due to taking medicine to sleep ) but it was nice...
I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow at 1:30 |

Location: North Dakota | I have panic and anxiety attacks! It all started for me when I was a kid due to violent fighting in the home. Anyway if I am worried and have a bad day for whatever reason a panic attack will usually trigger. I have found that keeping a cup of ice with me helps. When I start feeling it come on I will put lots of ice in my mouth. I know it sounds weird but it forces your brain to focus on the ice and not panicking. I discovered this when I had a panic attack driving on the express-way pulling a three horse trailer. I went into a panic and there was no place I could go due to traffic so I started cramming ice in my mouth and it actually stopped the panic attack. Please go to your doctor and get some blood work done though, maybe you have something going on there. |
