Which of the qualifiers do you believe will be the easiest and why?

Are you going to try and qualify, if so what horse?

I think the one in Glenrose will be the toughest. Opposite answer than what you were looking for but I don't think any of them will be easy. "The greats" will travel however far they have to to get into an event like this so I think there's people from everywhere that qualify at each qualifier.

I think they will all be tough. The big names can afford to drive wherever they need to go.

I am not planning on attempting to qualify LOL

I don't believe there will be an "easy" one.  All of them will have good horses and riders.  Me, I personally hope for some "not so famous" to make the cut.

There isn't going to be an easy one.  I don't care where you are in this Country there are tough horses with gals that are unable to travel and get their names out there.  Having more qualifiers spread all over is going to find some of the unsung hero's.

Depending on the next few weeks, I am going to try for Lincoln or Glen Rose.  The horse I am riding does better on a bigger pattern, so Buckeye is also an option.

I think she has a shot at qualifiying.  She is running really well right now, and I hope she can continue it. :

I don't think any of them are going to be easy. Not with that much money at stake. I'd love to try for it at Lincoln since that's the closest one to me, but it depends on how well my horses are working in that type of pen and how other things are going for me. Right now, Chance would be my best option in a big pen though Clifford has more overall talent if we can find the right amount of rate when the barrels are off the fences a ways. If we have a good weekend at Topeka's Barrel Bash, I might consider stashing some money and taking my shot.

If you are looking for easy, then don't bother.  Easy doesn't deserve it :)

I honestly think this year is going to get enough tougher, not that last year wasn't tough, but having someone actually win the million dollars is going to make more people want to try it.

This year, there will be a few more guys try it, since Clint did so well last year. My wife is going to try it out, if our mare hooks the first barrel she has a shot at it, we are still working on the consistency factor. The qualifiers are all going to be tough as you can imagine, then not to mention The SEMI's are going to be a barn burners jackpot, insane to watch, goose bumps making goose bumps, etc..

Yeah I don't think a single one will be easy.

I am going to enter the qualifier on my mare Ms Rare Buds. I feel we can qualify if we lay down the runs we have been. But if we go by the first barrel it's over. I mean at this race everyone's going to have to lay down the run of their life...and it's only going to get tougher from there.

No such thing as an easy qualifier.... there are incredible horses all over the country and lots of tough tough tough girls have plenty of resources to travel.

I am planning to go watch Glen Rose..... someday I REALLY want to run at one! (just not on my 4yo heathen right now).

It doesn't really matter where you go to qualify, you still have to run at the semi finals, lol. I figure... go where it's toughest, then you know right away. Glen Rose will definitely be the hardest to qualify at. They'll probably get 150 entries and only 10 move on. I think your odds are way better at some of the places where there are less entries. That's just common sense. If I could choose a place to run, it would have been in Colorado or Nebraska. Smaller patterns and not as many entries so it would be a little better odds of picking up a check and getting qualified. As it stands... I'll be running in Glen Rose this year and hoping for 2 spots in the semis, lol.

Any word on if the set up will be different this year at Dallas as far as alley way or larger pattern?

I dont how how they can change it but was curious if any of the insiders had heard if they are in fact trying to in fact trying to change it?

Not to change the subject, but does anyone know when and where the semi-finals will be held? Last year it was Mesquite on Feb 21-23rd. I haven't been able to find out where its posted other than the Finals in Arlington on March 1st.

I was kind of curious too as to what the arena sizes are and if I'm not mistaken the AZ arena is an outdoor or am I wrong?  I think that's a standard pattern.  Lincoln does have a huge indoor.  I like their little indoor and wish the Barrel Bash was in that pen but I'm sure there are tons of girls that hate it. LOL

My gray does not like the little pen but he generally does really well in the big one. The little one is a better setup for Clifford and my old bay horse prefers it as well.  Matt seems to think a horse could get lost in the big pen LOL but he started out running barrels in a small indoor where I grew up running in huge outdoor arenas. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Buckeye is a covered arena.  On the left is the bucking chutes, the right is the bleachers.  At your back is the announcers stand and off the back side of 3rd is open.  So it's kinda enclosed but technically just a covered arena.  It's a full sized (standard) pattern.

The pen in CO isn't exactly little. While it isn't standard, it isn't exactly a 14 second pattern. The one thing about the CO race is its being held during the college rodeo season and the college rodeo that weekend is in Sheridan WY so the tough college girls in this region probably won't be there. Same thing happened last year. I will say though that you'd better have a horse that can win rodeos or else you probably won't make it out of the semi's. Or that was the case last year. These qualifiers are not the same atmosphere as the semi and finals. JMHO.

Thats the way it was last year. Buckeye Az was a virtual shark tank! It was the last one. Everyone was there, they had 180+ trying to qualify. You name them, they were there.  I will throw out a couple people that qualified in Colorado all clocked 1/2 sec. off in Buckeye. You want easy go to the first ones and they wont exactly be easy either but I dont know what good that would do unless you just want to say you qualified because you will HAVE to take ALL on in the semi finals to try to advance. Your better off just goin to the tuffest one in the first place because if you cant place there, you sure wont place in the semi finals.
