Location: midwest mama
I have a friend who has ridden in a "Bear Trap" saddle for many years.
Unfortunately the horse she is running now is too wide in the shoulders for her old Bear Trap saddle so she is looking for something new.
Any suggestions on what other type of saddle would be comparable? Or are there any wider good quality bear traps out there nowadays?
She likes higher swells and a higher cantle, and needs the back of the seat to let her sit WAY down (like in a bucket.) She is an older woman and has a hard time "sitting on her pockets" naturally, and to top it off her horse drops pretty hard in the turns so she needs something to keep her secure.
What are you alls thoughts?

Circle H Ranch and Tack in Troy Alabama make a very nice saddle that has a wider swell, and the horn is angled forward. $1350... has a 5 in cantle and hold my 59 yo ass in nice.

idk how comparable they are but imo the Caldwell rocket is the most comfy saddle I have ever sat in deep seat high cantle wide gullet and it is a great saddle!!! pricey but worth every bit of the $
