is there anything you can do to prevent horse flies? They are ridiculous! They are only drawn to my black horse or any horse I am currently riding. haha. I have put fly sheets on him and they still go after him biting him through the dang sheet! I thought he was just being a jerk but I found bloody spots all over the bottom side of the sheet!

There are horse fly traps out there that I have stared at endlessly on the computer pondering if they would actually work. They are $300. They say repellents don't work but if trap and kill the breeding females you can reduce the local population.

I have one horse that has on a weatherbetta fly sheet that has the super tight mesh for mosquitos and it does NOT have a seam down the middle so it stays up off of him a bit. He seems to be immune to the fact that I have seen at least 4 on him at once. So from now on as they wear out their current sheets, I will be purchasing similar sheets in hopes that it works on all of them. Other then that I leave mine in during the day out at night and try to ride quickly during the month they are out.
