I purchase a horse, mostly does cow work, the owner started barrels with him and said she was using a sherri cervi short shank twisted wire dogbone, I haven't been running barrels with him much, but started a couple of weeks, just loping, when coming off the 3rd barrel he wants to run home, with all this said, I have no control what so ever getting him slowed down or even stop, is there another bit I should try?

Instead of letting him run home turn towards the fence and slow him that way. So we you turn the barrel overturn it and end up facing the fence and either stop or continue to circle until he slows. Adding a stronger bit is not teaching him anything but simply relating to pain
