I normally ride in a 13" saddle with a 5" cantle and love it.  I feel secure, confident, and balanced.  No sliding around.

I've gotten a few lessons from a guy that rides cutters and working cow horses and he has had me in a bigger saddle (15").  It's a different feel and a much more comfortable saddle.

This has me thinking that I need a bigger saddle.  Though, it was a bit of a mess running a pattern in the bigger saddle.  I felt really behind my boy the whole way.

So, here's what I'm thinking.  Have a bigger saddle for slow work, conditioning and such.  Only use the barrel saddle for races?

Anyone else think like this?

I'm just trying to improve myself and get my pony better broke.

Not trying to be rude.. but you must be pretty tiny to ride in a 13" saddle.
