For the first time in the 16 years I have been living on my own I will have no horses at my house. I sold one of my geldings and my young horse is at the trainers. I've only had my old retired mare at my house and tomorrow I'm taking her to a family members house to turn her out for a few months. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I look out my back window and see empty corrals. I know its only temporary but it will be weird. I've actually thought about selling out because I don't have a lot of time but have not been able to do it. I guess this will be a dry run on what my life without horses would be like.

About 5 years ago, we were in such a drought that there was no hay or pasture. We made the decision to sell all of our cows. It was the first time in 40 years without any cows. Seeing the calves and cows loaded in the trailer broke my heart and I wasn't exactly attached to those darn cows. I cried when they left. I cannot image a day when we have no horses on our place. I might not be able to handle it.
