Proverbs is a book about wisdom. Its purpose is to help one discern the best course of action for better living. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, wrote most of this book.
It has been said that we are one decision away from stupid. Well, the proverbs are written to get the stupid out of us!
The key verse in the book is found in verse 7 . Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
We can only find true wisdom when we acknowledge God, because He is the source of all wisdom. All logic, reasoning, and religious reckoning that is not built on the foundation of the fear, reverence, and awe of God will be empty, for it has the wrong starting point. If God is indeed God, then He should be revered. If he is not, then it doesn't matter.
For it is with God all things are possible.
