| Does anyone actually do this?? Or do you need to "lease" the trailer ...
I am looking at costs to hit up a large event in October (week long) and it dang sure would be nice if I could rent/lease a LQ trailer and not hotel it.
Yes, I realize insurance will play a large part in all this, and yes I have figured that cost in :) |

Location: Bigfoot Country | Do you have a bumper pull trailer? I would rent a motorhome. Have fun! |

Just be sure to rent one that is equipped and capable of hauling your trailer. Good luck. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I personally wouldn't rent out my LQ trailer for a million. It sounds like you have a great option to rent an RV though. That might be the route to take. |

I don't blame you in the least. I know there is a place in TN that will rent LQ trailers, but it is a bit out of my way to say the least. (like 14 hours out of the way)
The one I rented last year - well, its full of horses and going to the same place I am this year! Dang friends :) |

Location: OREGON | Yes, there is a place out of Texas that does. And there used to be a place in Arizona too. But, I heard the Arizona one is no longer. Just google Horse Trailer LQs for rent. |

So that is where I started, pulling out the ol' google machine.
Problem .... I'm in KS and going to TX ... :)
Discovered a couple places that will rent "toter-homes" to pull my lil trailer down to TX so I may eventually go that route. Insurance, mileage, and "people/invisible pet" fees and this thing is STILL gonna be cheaper than a hotel for the couple of us looking at this option. |

Location: Sherman, TX | There is a place in Weatherford, TX that does this. Near Teskey's right off of the I-20. Can't remember the name, thought of doing that too since most of the barrel races here are only 5 minutes away and would only go to far away ones once in awhile. So not worth taking on a trailer payment year round. |

yup, that's why I don't have a LQ trailer either ... the few times that I have stayed overnight were only for one night and it doesn't pencil out to have a year round trailer payment for something I will only really "use" once or twice a year.
Weatherford is SE of Amarillo (where I'm headed), right? Hmmmmmm and I'm coming from the north .... Still something to look into, THANKS! |

| yup. It may be worth it to drag there, load into a LQ, drag up to Amarillo - stay, repeat. I'm looking into it now. BHW really is a wealth of info! |

Location: Sherman, TX | Sorry I don't remember the name of it and I don't work out past there anymore to get the name for you. You might be able to call the Teskey's store or even the Teskey's cafe to see if they know? They are usually pretty nice at that store... |

Location: Bigfoot Country | Here's another thought.......rent an RV trailer, have them deliver and set up at the arena you'll be at. They usually come equipped with everything but your food. Just drive to the race in your truck and trailer. Then you'll have a vehicle at the race too. I've done this before and the trailer slept 8! Split it with 4 people and it was like $25/day each! Can't get a hotel for that! Worked out great! It was 30ft with a slide out and bunk beds! Check around, they are out there! Lots of private party trailers/RV for rent. Check Craigslist? |

Location: Lansing, Kansas | I noticed you said you are in Kansas, not sure how close you are but RbarB in Topeka rents trailers. I know of someone renting a LQ trailer from them for state fair and about 4 years ago we rented a small 2h BP two different times from them for the weekend to haul a horse to Virginia and back. |

Location: Always on call..... | Yes R Bar B in Topeka does rent LQ trailers. Had several friends use them. Though the thought of renting an RV and having them set it up at the race is pretty smart! |

| You all are super helpful! Thank you so very much!! I am very familiar with R Bar B, Russ, and his crew. Great people to work with. I may have to call him and see what he has available too!
For now, it looks like the best option - a neighbor guy is gonna let us 2 gals borrow his motor home to pull my little bumper pull, stay in for the week, and pull back to KS. Off to look into insurance today to make sure this will all work out - there is NO WAY I'm borrowing his sweet motorhome without it!!
THANK YOU!!! You all ROCK!! |
