| Hi all! I entered NBHA Open World for the FIRST time! Very excited and looking forward to it! Any helpful tips or suggestions? Thanks in advance!! |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | Don't be in line the minute they open the gates. You will have to wait for ever. You will probably know ahead of time but I always take some form of stall samatozer incase I'm in portable stalls. Bring a winter wardrobe and summer and a rain coat, it's Georgia the weather is very bipolar. We bring fans and blankets. There's been times when you need fans during the day and blankets at night. Don't bring your own shavings unless you just really want to. There's a feed store across the road that stocks up on shavings for $5 a bag. You can also buy rubber stall mats and the disposable mats there. Bring money to shop. There normally is a lot of venders but I've sponken to 3 of the bigger vendors and they said they wasn't coming because the fee had got too high. There is a restraunt on the arena grounds that serve all 3 meals. It's pricy but it's decent food. There's also a Cracker Barrel less than a mile down the road. If you have a golf cart bring it. The fee for them is high but you will appreciate having one.

Location: Oklahoma | Eat at the Oil Lamp its really close to the fairground and has AMAZING homecooked food! Definately bring lots of $$$ and a variation of clothes. We went to youth world in July and wore jeans and sweatshirts a couple of days and shorts/tanks a couple of days. Weather is CRAZY there. We always have a blast!

| Take a left out of the facility, go to first stop light (before you get to Cracker Barrel) and take a right...Oil Lamp is down on the left. If you keep going past the Oil Lamp the road will V-off, stay to the left and turn by CVS/Walgreens and that will take you to Walmart, Chic-Fil-A, Lonestar, hotels, etc. |

That depends on you. And depends on what you called packed. And what time you go. It's too much for me. I don't like riding in big groups because I have a kicker and there's not enough room in there to keep her away from other horses. All my horses have been there multiple times so I skip the open arena and just take a nice ride around the humongous field across the road. If your talking about check-in You just have to be checked in before your first run. |

If your talking about check-in You just have to be checked in before your first run.

I have one who doesn't need open arena or exhibitions, and one who isn't as seasoned, so I like to get her in there to trot a pattern or see the pen - but if there are a lot of horses, not sure she will really get a feel of the pen anyway. So if I don't run til Monday - I don't have to check in til then? Saw "registration" for Sat/Sun - is that for late enters? Thanks and sorry for all the questions!! |

As long as you pre-entered you just have to be checked in before you run. But I always check in the day I get there so that's less I have to worry about later. I'll get there sometime Saturday morning and after unloading everything I'll go check in. If you run Monday morning then I would probably check in Sunday. Jus to be sure you get it done in time. Ask questions. It's the only way you will learn stuff. |

| You'll love it!! This will be our first year off from worlds since we started going in 2009!
Shavings are a #1 priority as most stalls are concrete flooring without mats. The disposable mats they sell there are pricey and arent very good quality, personally I dont think theyre worth it. Puzzle piece childrens mats are great or anything you can really put on the floor to prevent them from slipping. I've seen everything from yoga mats to utility mats used before. Shavings off-ground are a much better deal than on the grounds. TSC always has plenty in stock as well. There are plenty of places to eat off the grounds that give you more bang for your buck than the on site dining, its pricey and I've never been a fan of it honestly. Shopping money is an obvious necessity, you never know what you'll find there since it changes a bit every year. Bikes, golf carts, or really any form of transportation outside your hauling vehicle will be your best friend, everything is really spread out and its a lot of miles throughout the week. There are several round-pens to let your horses get out and stretch their legs in, and there are two covered pens away from the main arena you can ride in whenever you'd like. Open arena depends on the time of day you get in there, but its good to let them get a feel for the set up.
Bring clothes for every season, it tends to go from hot to freezing several times throughout the week. Same for the horses, fans and sheets! Also prepare for some rainy weather, theres always at least one day where its raining all day long.
Personally, I check in when I get there. You'll get a packet with coupons and a draw, and a few other goodies. And it's one less thing to worry about later on. But most of all just have fun and do as much as you can while youre there! It's a great experience and I'm a little depressed we're missing out this year!  |

| Thanks so much, everyone!! I have some puzzle piece mats so I will make sure to bring those along!! Definitely will check out the Oil Lamp!! I pre-ordered a golf cart! How many days does each go take? 2? How do you know what day your draw # is - will it be in the packet? Also - Trick or Trot- details??! Sorry for the millions of questions but I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to comment!! |

| Youll receive a tentative schedule in the mail about 3 weeks or so before you head to worlds. It will have draw and stall numbers on them, ( they will also be posted on nbharesults.com ) and have a schedule explaining when each go starts, what draws they will run to each day, and other activities throughout the week, such as trick-or-trot, etc.
Trick-or-trot is a ton of fun! I believe you sign up at the "office" table in the main arena if you would like to participate, and you can dress you and your horse as whatever youd like! It's a lot of fun to watch!! They also hold a country race, where they have a few top riders from each country run against one another on random horses, the coke race, etc.
When you arrive on grounds there will be staff who take you to your stalls and your camper parking if you are staying on site for the week. But you will know all of your info before hand. BE SURE to bring the envelope and all of its contents that you recieved in the mail with you, they'll ask for it when entering the grounds! :) |

But if you forget you envelope like I did one year... Don't panic lol. Regardless of what your "friend" tells you, they will still let you check in without it. I stressed and cried for 2 days trying to figure out how I was going to get it from my kitchen table to Jackson Ms. so they would let me check in. Lesson Learned.
Trick-or-Trot is lots of fun..... Halloween night in General is fun lol. If your into this kind of stuff there had been being a Haunted Barn just down from the arena that people said was awesome but it wasn't there last year.
All this stuff will make a lot more sense once you get your information packet in the mail. I remember my first year of Youth World(wasn't allowed to go to open world until after I graduated high school) and I was soooo confused on how everything worked. But once I saw it in writing it made way more sense. At least Perry is safe though. We had never been to Jackson until that year and a couple weeks before we had a meeting at a show for all YW contestants. All we had been told was how dangerious Jackson is. When our director said he better not catch any of us out walking around outside without using the buddy system or after dark without a adult. I was seriously terrified.
Like I told someone else, World will be what you make it. You either go and have the time of your life or go and be miserable the whole time. Some people I know absolutely hate it because they let every little thing get on there nerves like all the golf carts that almost run you over or people unplugging your fans and plugging in theres(FYI duct tape will fix that problem) or the people beside you that party none stop. Just go and have fun and I promise you'll be back next year.

Some people use the 21 race as a really expensive exhibition. It is a 5D, so you still have a shot even if you mess up a little, and it gets them in the pen. |
