Location: Texas | What are some of your MUST HAVES.
I've never owned a LQ so looking for someone who has experience with them.
I know for me I want a stud divider on the first stall for storage. I would also really like an electric jack.
I have a question about hay racks though, for those of you who don't have the equipment to lift hay bales on top of your trailer how do you get hay up there???
Also feel free to dream a little on these must haves, it's always nice to hear ideas, big or small! |

Location: Oklahoma | Generator mounted on the roof... opposite side from your LQ entrance so fumes don't drift. Extra generator start switch in the nose of the trailer by the bed so you can start the generator while in bed if it gets cold/hot no oven... 99% of the time you won't use it definitely stud stall on first stall. (I like full at top with removable baby panel w/ rubber both sides) I put mangers on ALL horses, and I put my escape door on the first stall on the curb side instead of street side Dome lights in mangers extra bridle hooks in mangers
I work in the trailer industry... I have my dream trailer designed!

yes. Generators in the mangers and rear tacks have less air flow and therefore a greater risk of fire. If my LQ door were on the curbside, I'd put my generator mounted on the streetside roof so I wouldn't potentially have the fumes blowing on me. |

| Congrats on almost having your LQ trailer!!!!!!! I just bought my first one last month and OMG I am so happy! I was super picky because this was my first one and probably the only one I will own. So my must haves were: (not in order)
1. Stud Divider
2. Mangers
3. Drop downs on rear!!!!!!!!!!! (we are in Texas)
4. Walk thru from trailer to LQ
5. Large Vanity
6. Skylight over shower (I didn't get this but there is a large skylight in the middle of the bathroom so I compromised)
7. Radius Corner Shower
8. Satellite (my fiancee now loves horse shows because he always has his Direct TV)
9. Convection Oven Microwave
10. Full Size Fridge and Freezer (full size for trailer sizes I mean)
11. 2 sinks
12. Awning
13. LOTS OF STORAGE!!!!!!!!!!
14. Generator on top on opposite side of LQ entry
15. Lots of manger space
16. Escape door
16. Good size tack area
17. Hydraulic Jacks!!!!!!
18. Outside water faucet!
I personally would not recommend a booth seating area, I borrowed a trailer that had this and it drove me crazy because it was such a waste of space (for me personally) I never sat at it. Now with kids involved I could see how a table could be handy.
I have a recliner in mine that is a full recline so I chill in it all of the time (when I can get my fiancee out of it) lol.
I did not get a slide out but I know many people say they are a must, they just pushed me out of my budget on things I didn't want to compromise on.
Good LUCK!!!!

| I have 14'sw with a L shaped couch. I got this instead of a slide out. Love my big couch. Have a full walkin closet. And bunches of cabinets dont have them all full. i have seen over 14sw lq and i have a lot of free space, vs slide out as around the slide out there is a moulding which is about 8 inches on each side, that is a lot to give up. I also like tye fact that i have ducted heat and can either use heat strips and or propane. Itmjust did not have a generator. But love my big bath room with the walkin closet. |

| Love a generator switch in bed, love hydraulic jack, love heavy axles (I think less wear on tires), butt windows, escape door on butt wall (allows a manager for front horse). I do wish mine had an oven..beats hauling a gri and I hate microwave food. Big fridge, good heat system depending on location. Insulated floor would be nice (not sure if anyone has ever done that). |

| I had a hay rack and never used it because I had no way to get stuff up there. I love my ducted heat and air. I had my trailer built so the tack door opened the same direction as the stall door, that way, I tie on the driver's side and I don't have to walk clear around the door to get my saddle and tack - and it's away from the horses' legs. |

Some people don't use the 1st stall for a horse, so it's just an alternative to use it more like a mud room. |

8' wide
V shaped front. We've been pulling a flat nose and it has way more resistance in the wind.
Drop downs on head and rear
Large corner shower, or at least bigger than our current one.
Stud Stall
Sleeper sofa, NO dinettes!
We have to have a cook top and full size fridge
Slide Ou
Lots of inside storage
A mid tack would be a major plus but not a necessity
Has to be at least 13' short wall.
Hydraulic jack, NO electric.
Any color but white!
We been trailer shopping. So far no luck. Maybe were too picky but after 2 other lq trailer you know what you have to have.

Seriously. I never use my awning. Its too windy here in South Dakota and I've seen major wrecks with people putting them out and not paying attention to how windy its getting.
I won't have a dinette. We have a 3 cushion couch in our slide-out that makes into a bed. We also have a table that you can set up in front of the couch when needed.
I love my heat pump, rarely use the furnace. The heat pump is easier on the stuffy noses. BTW - a heat pump is not the same as a heat strip.
Walk thru to the stall area. I use the first stall most of the time for a mud room/feed/dirty clothes bag/beverage cooler. Nice to be able to walk from the LQ to the back. |

We had the portable dish you set up outside when you parked, we already had an extra dish from when we had to get a new one at the house. It was easy peasy to get it all set up, and cheap.
But the aggravating part was everytime you set the dish up was fiddling with it until you found "just the right spot" to get your connection. Definitely a two person job! One in the trailer watching the tv yelling out the door at the person twisting and turning the dish.
ETA- I assume people with the bubble don't have these frustrations!

I prefer the ones on the top and I've had both. My under manger one overheated and even though I was religious about keeping the oil checked and changed, it blew up @ 400 hours. My mechanic told me it basically was running so hot down there it cooked itself. Not to mention all the days when it was really hot out, it would vapor lock and not run at all. It always let me down on the days I needed it the most. It got to the point where I had a portable Honda generator in the pickup because I could not count on the under manger Onan to work.
I have not had a single problem with my roof mounted generator, it's already got twice as many hours as my under manger one did and no problems whatsoever. I actually find it easier to change the oil on up on the roof than I did fighting limited space on the under manger mounted one. |

| Mine is a 4 horse, I have a mid tack for tack, a back tack that is used for feed, 50 gallon corner water tank, and I can fit 6 square bales plus my buckets and grain.
The first stall I also have a 50 gallon tank in the corner, I choose not to have mangers due to respiratory issues that can occur.
My mid tack has a 25 gallon water tank. I hate hauling water and when I have 4 horses on for 3 days they drink it all.
My hay rack I use to pack my panels.
For generator, I choose to have a portable one that way I can take it with the holiday trailer and it actually came in handy this week,we had no power for 2 days due to heavy snow we used the generator to power essentials in the house.
A comfy mattress is nice,
A demand water heater is better then the regular water heater. Mine is 5 gallons and some days with a few of us showering quickly we have to wait for hot water.
Soft blinds much nicer then the metal ones,
I have laminate flooring, honestly I would have been fine with Lino as the laminate does scuff. Some offer hardwood, but I would be worried about weight.
With whatever LQ you get make sure your vehicle can handle the weight.
Fully loaded I am 200lbs under my GVW |

| Make sure your black/grey water is on the opposite side of your LQ door. Ours is on the same side and so if we do full hook up we get to enjoy walking over the thing that you use to drain the black/grey water (drawing a blank to the name of it)
We live in TX and the drop downs are nice, but pricey. We have the slats and it's fine in the summer. My horses have never been sweaty because our trailer (Platinum) stays cool in stalls. I would do the collapsible tack if I could do again so you can haul ATV for non-horse camping.
I really like the bars on head side to keep horses heads in. I know the generator is expensive, but we LOVE ours. Especially if you have a young family and you may be traveling by yourself. I didn't want it on this trailer and my husband talked me into it. So worth it!!! |

First, mangers come in more than one size. 18" and 22". I have a 7ft wide trailer currently and my stalls measure 90 inches head to tail. My horses can put their heads down and eat on the road.
I had the nice lady at 4 star measure the stall length for me with 18" mangers and it is 89". So I got the smaller mangers and feel like my horses should be able to put their heads down and I will still get a little extra space for storage. Now if you are going to do a in manger generator you can't do the smaller mangers but I'm going roof mount

I may need a pic....this is not something i've seen. It's a satellite dish or an antenna? I told hubby to call our friend that does satellite stuff and see what we can do, what it will cost, etc. The bubble is definitely out for me, as I understand to get that installed is super expensive unfortunately, but the mobile one you set out may be doable. |

Location: not settling | Mangers! I couldn't imagine our trailer without them- major bonus for storage! Microwave and fridge to, especially if you have kids, they are handy!! I like our dinette, mostly for the fact that it provides more counter space and a place to set food or other things if need be. Hated our electric jack, we just got it changed to a manual. Our furnace is a lifesaver- from Canada, can you tell ;)We also got guards put over our tanks and lines underneath in the LQ, after getting a hole in a line underneath and with gravel roads they were a must.
Wish we had a place to mount our generator onto, more storage space inside the LQ for clothes and a bigger shower!

I would have a step for the rear tack and escape doors and a keyless entry
I would love a keyless entry. Do they make them for trailers? |
