I currently have a young horse that needs some barrel work loping through and kinda breezing through the pattern.  The problem lies in the fact that I have no arena at my house just a pasture.  I know that some people put the sand just where the barrels are so that the horser have "ground" to actually turn underneath them.  Can anyone recommend how much sand to put at each barrel? Thanks in advance!

I personally think it would be a waste of time and money to just put it around the barrels. The sand will sift away quickly if there is nothing to hold it there. Just my opinion though
