All sin is rooted in the basic assumption that God is not good. When we understand God, we know that He wants what is best for you and we will have the self control to follow His commandments. Most of the time we try to solve our spiritual problems with a physical solution. We are lonely because we try to fill God's place in our hearts with another person. The Bible teaches us that there is a vacuum inside of us that only God can fill. No matter what perfect partner you think you can find, that person will not satisfy.
Remember in John 8:1-12 the lady caught in the act of adultery? Jesus said to the people around her that if they were without sin to cast the first stone. They all left, but she stayed. That took courage. She could have walked off with them, but she knew Jesus could help her. She knew there was HOPE Jesus did not condemn her. HE told her to go and sin no more. Ask God's forgiveness and move on. It is never too late for God's best.
