Can someone explain the Double J saddle trees to me? I really need a new saddle and I am looking at a double j as an option (preferably a used one) and I have seen lots of people saying they have a #10 tree or something like that. Ive looked on double j's website to try and find what it means but cant. I don't want to buy an expensive saddle without knowing what I'm getting and making sure its the right size!
Thanks!

The #10 tree is for a big shouldered horse - the tree is also longer than the standard tree
They had the standard, wide, and #10 available to look at when I had my horse fitted by double J and he showed me the bare wooden trees
My gelding was fitted with a nueva tree - he is a 15.1 hd quarter horse but he isnt really broad or big shouldered
My mare fits the pozzi with the standard tree - she is 15.1 and very stout and muscled but doesnt have huge shoulders
My best friend has a 4 y/o colt who is 15.3 very thoroughbred looking build with big broad shoulders and the #10 tree fit him
I believe that the #10 tree was made for the horse with a higher hip so the bars are rocked. Call and visit with Phillip Hinojosa at Double J! He is a huge help!
