| So after I got past how batsh!t crazy these folks are, I realized there might be some value to some of their prepping. You know "just in case". Does anyone on here prep? What do you do for doomsday preparedness? What is your opinion on some of these folks?

| Well we are pretty rural so I was thinking a stockpile of seeds. A nice grade would be good on a normal basis anyways so a seed stockpile would be doubly useful. And ammo. | |

Location: Florida.. | I think its good to be prepared for catastrophes.. and or war .. ( and yes we are at war again in a major way and russia is not happy with us ) .. a survival pantry and preppers are on the right track and its better to be over prepared.. But I also see a side where with some its their whole life. they live in fear and cant enjoy LIFE.. its not a way to live and the enemy wins in that case..

Location: southeast Texas | Well,,,,,,,,, this is my thoughts,,,,.the people living out in the middle of Tim buck too, will be better off than people living close to large towns. The people in large cities will quickly run out of food. They will start roaming to find what they don't have. Recent example of what will happen, Fergerson. The closest places to pillage will be those of us that have acreage right out of town. And unless you have an armed fortress, with security that does not consist of electrical devices, you will be the first to fall. Our livestock will be easy pickings. Then if they figure you have a stash of anything they deam valuable, they will storm the defenses to get at it. Read history, interesting to see how people survived wars, the great depression.

Agree, when hurricane Ike hit Houston grocery store shelves were EMPTY within 24 hours, no cash in the ATM's and all the gas was gone- and this was a natural disaster that people had plenty of warning and time to prep for but no one did. People were stuck at home with no electricity, food or water and could not get gas in their vehicles to travel. There were more causalties from people being getting stuck on the freeways trying to flee at the last minute, running out of gas in 100 degree plus heat than the storm itself. I can't imagine what it would be like under the condiditons of us being attacked. I am not a prepper but ever since then I keep stocked up on cases of water and enough food for a few weeks.

We have a cave with a natural spring staked out in the back country. I think being prepared and having a plan is a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised if a major catstrophe will hit in the next 25 years. Either evironmental, disease, or poltical.... and then there is this whole solar flare thing...

| Not to mention that if you have something like more than a 2 week supply of food and supplies you might be classified a potential terrorist and also there is an Executive order where is Martial Law is declared Government can come in and take all but 3 days supplies from you, so be prepared to fight not only the hoards of unfed and or unlawful but those who are supposed to protect your so-called rights. | |

Location: North Central Iowa Land of white frozen grass | When it gets bad enough none of us will survive untill the population is thinned down to where we can live off of the natural resources. Ammo will become the new barganning currancy. I would say that over 75% of the population will have to be gone. I also think that is Obama plan to thin the herd. That's why he is trying to get ebola started here.Since we had the medicine to cure those doctures that we brought home why didn't we send the med over there. He needs to get the infection started here. That's also why he is sending 3,000 troops over their now. More chances to bring home the infection. If it gets bad enough you will not have any civil protection for they will be home protecting their own family.

Now I'm not a supporter of Obama and his antics BUT ... You are talking B^LL HOCKEY CRAP about curing ebola.
THERE IS NO CURE ... only supportive therapy. Ya, know to keep secondary infections at bay and keep fluids in the body. People can SURVIVE ebola and then develop IMMUNITY to it through antibodies. Do a little homework before "dropping" your theories on everyone else. Thanks.

| Some very interesting thoughts on this post and I agree with most of them actually. I do think that sending the troops over there is a scheme to bring the nasties back here to decimate the population. That's my crazy conspiracy theory side, but would it really be that big of a surprise? Hitler used different methods for his genocide, why couldn't Obama use germ warfare?
That is so scary about the government being able to take your stockpile but also makes sense. Look at ANY conquering group throughout our entire history and that's the first thing they do....conquer and take all supplies not only for their troops but also to control the losers. It's alot easier to keep the populace under your thumb when they are starving to death

Oh heck, the cattle will be safe. Hamburger comes from your grocery stores. What world do you live in lol
But seriously. I have read a ton on the jews during the Holocaust. Amazing how some of those people survived and did it with children. Sad sad that history is going to repeat itself :( It always does though

| Thanks for recommending that book, I'm going to buy it. I was reading some book reviews and came across an interesting statement..."most seeds these days are hybrid and can't be reseeded". Talk about hitting the food topic! All livestock would be consumed first including horses. | |

| We are well stocked with ammo, our camping and hunting gear is always ready to go, and all of our horses are not afraid to pack game or have guns shot off of them. However...while the solar flare/EMP thing may make cars, cell phones, and computers useless- the more I think about it- the rougher the terrain and the father away from the cities we would want to get- the more we would need to ditch our horses and have mustangs. Hardy, sure footed, and can live off whatever scraps of forage they can find.
We live in one of those areas that is in a city but has acreage- we will be protecting what we have (or what is valuable) and then leaving for open territory.

Haha!! That shows the difference between Houston folks and New Orleans folks. 24 hours after Katrina, the liquor, CDs, DVDs, jewelry and big screen TVs were all gone. Looted! Canned goods and camping supplies were relatively untouched. Oh, except for the firearms. The cash was gone from the ATMs that the thugs were able to tear apart and yeah, gas was hard to find.
