It was an end to a horrendous discovery of a dozen dead horses and eight more neglected, starving horses that brought an international outrage from horse lovers. It happened this evening when a press release from the El Paso Sheriffs Department was reported on KRDO.com that eight remaining horses had been examined by a veterinarian and seized from the property by the Colorado Humane Society, located in Denver, Colo., out of the El Paso County Police Department’s jurisdiction, who had earlier ordered the neglected horses remain in the same facility with those that had died and be cared for by the people who neglected them. The release continued that charges would be filed against those responsible.

| Just sitting here thinking about the horses last few days. On any given day I have periods of time when I am hungry and think "good Lord my belly button is scratching my back bone I am so hungry" but if you saw me you would know that is not true. These horses had to stand and feel the life drain from their bodies, know that their main source of life was only feet away and did not care enough to help them. I can only imagine what was on their minds when they laid down for the last time knowing they could not stand up again praying that the pain and suffering would stop.
I know we are not to question what God has happen but their are times that I really don't understand why things happen. Why would an adult allow an animal to die this way? Why can we not allow them to go without a meal or 10? How can we make this person understand what he did was wrong I mean deep down in his heart where it really hurts know what he has done wrong.
I pray the horses left receive the care and love they deserve. Sorry so long just had to say this. |

Location: In the rockies. | The hearing was to question the validity of the seizure and the bond amount. Randy Parker DVM gave testimony. He stated that femur bones of the 14 deceased were tested. The average age of the dead horses was 5-10 years old. The youngest was 3. Only 3 horses were 15 or older. No firm cause of death yet to our knowledge. The judge agreed there was probable cause and the seiz...ure stood. The bond deposit had been paid, and other vet costs were ordered to be paid. Judge Sletta ordered she may pay $5,205. for vet care; float, vaccination, farrier, worming. $12.00 per horse per day or $3600 per month. The Llamas $600 for vet care, and $15 per llama per day or $1800 per month till advisement in December. Next payment due 10/23. The horses and llamas remain incare of the humane organizatin., and get important care. This is all a huge victory.
Sherri Brunzell's court hearing has been scheduled for December 31st, 2014. More signatures are needed!

I understand about not being able to do anything because they had "food and water". We had someone in the area that I helped fight to have her horses taken away. The sad thing was this was the second time she had the horses taken away. The horses were taken away and she could not have horses for 5 years. After the five years were up she started all over again. It took years to take them away again. I was told she can no longer own horses but I know she hid some before they were taken away last time. It is coming up on five year and I am concerned that she will be allowed to so it again.
This is NO reason an animal should suffered! |

They said he has gained 100=150 pounds. had before and after pictures in court but have not released them yet. Judge has not sentenced her yet so who gets the horses is not known yet. |
