Location: Displaced Iowegian | We will, once again, be attending the Boot and Saddle Maker's Reunion in Wichita Falls, TX next week-end and will be there Thursday night - Sunday morning (Oct. 2-5). Then we are off to Mesquite to meet a friend.
Best places to eat, shop, etc ???
Just a "head's up" this has always been a great place for anyone who works with leather, etc to purchase leather, exotic skins, conchos, hardware, etc. |

| Blahaha western stores, not. Take a trip to Decatur to NRS. There was a neat store just N on 287, but i heard it closed. I can tell you where not to go: downtown or mall. You do have the falls and sort of a botanical garden. WF shoukd be renamed WTF. Archer City is close home to The Last Picture show and Blue Pig bookstore, Larry Mcmurtrys |

Location: USA | For western stores, you have Cavender's and The Browse Shop. There's also Coyote Creek in Henrietta, TX, about 15-20 east of WF.
What kind of foods do you like to eat? They have a few places that are pretty good and aren't chain restaurants (and by chain restaurant, I mean nationwide): The Gypsy Kit (downtown), Ganache Cupcake Lounge (Beer and cupcakes, also serves lunch), Back Porch Draft House (I suggest the Mother Porker . . . mmmm), McBride's Steakhouse, Ronnie's Burgers, P2 (drive-in bar), El Gordo's, Daddy Bob's Smokewagon (food truck), PHO cafe (vietnamese/Thai), Willie's Place (burgers), NY Chef's pizza, pasta and subs (downtown), Stanley's BBQ, Bella's Italian Restaurant (Burkburnett, neighboring town), Sakura Sushi Bar, Bully's Pizza.
As far as things to do, there really isn't much in regards to sight seeing and stuff. There's antique shops downtown, The RiverBend Nature Center, movies, Backdoor Theatre. It's not a touristy town. It's your typical town with not much to do, it just so happens to have a bigger population than other towns in the middle of nowhere.

I second visiting the wild life refuge south of Lawton if you can. It's huge and they used to have a really nice restaurant on the reserve that served a lot of elk and bison, plus you can drive up the Wichita mountain and just enjoy the scenery.
ETA: If you do go up that way you might be able to go to Ft. Sill mounted half section that is still down there, pretty cool to see the soldiers and horses there on post.
