We have an old corn crib on our property and I was just curious if anyone had converted an old crib into a horse barn? Was it worth the money? Did it cost more or less than it would to build a pole barn?

If it is an old slat type crib, I'm seeing a good roof over it, well supported.... That much already built is a good start... not to a nice barn but certainly a workable shelter and stalls at a low price.

Picture? I don't know what a corn crib is!
They come in many different shapes and sizes, but this is an old slat type corn crib. They left gaps for air to pass through to help dry ear corn after it was harvested. The new ones today are a silo shaped wire mesh like the last picture.

The crib on our property is the slat style like the ones you posted. Only difference is its the style with the rounded roof.
Yeah, thats what I was thinkin too, that it could be made into a run in shelter. We were planning on knocking it down and our neighbor suggested we make it a horse barn. So I figured I'd ask and see if anyone has done that before. I'm leaning towards knocking it down as it's going to take a lot of work and materials to get it air and water tight.

I'd have to see pics but usually it's not much work to screw or nail some kind of sheeting to the sides and metal on the roof... and bingo, there it is..
