How would you price a grade horse? What do people who are buying ecspect or look for when the horse is grade? My mares mother died a few years ago and AQHA won't let me register her.

Simple, look at what its doing. If its clocking 2d then people will buy it as a 2d horse, if its only a kids trail horse people will pay a trail horse price.

Is she a prospect or finished?

I've found you just about have to give away grade prospects. Unless... they are Drop.Dead.Gorgeous. Like movie star gorgeous. Long flowing mane, pretty head, real shapey hip, etc.

Finished horses are a little trickier. Really safe babysitter type kids horses it usually doesn't affect their price. Rope horses it doesn't effect their price, much... Barrel horses it has to be a bad mamma jamma to not affect their price. More and more barrel racers are placing importance on papers. They're not going to pay the SAME price for a grade horse if they can find an equally good horse with papers.
