Ok, before I spend a good amount of money on a prospect (already found one, but $1000 over budget!) A couple of less pricey horses have cropped up lately, but not too sure what to think. Bloodline gurus and anyone's experiences would help so much...these 2 mares for sale are smaller than my current barrel horse, I thought they could make a barrel horse for smaller pens?

First one, is a 4 yr old, Doc O Lena x Poco Bueno bred mare her name is "Bueno Scootolena". Just started under saddle (30 days.) Ugh I can't seem to copy and paste the pedigree and her video on youtube. You can look up her video (search Bueno Scootolena,) can y'all tell me if you think she would be too short strided for barrel racing? Maybe a good barrel horse for small pen jackpots? Would you be concerned that she kept breaking down to a trot in her back end but was still loping in her front? Didn't happen a lot in the video, but it happened. What's she worth?

Second horse can be bought even cheaper, no pics or videos sorry, but her registered name is FD Chex N Pep (Doc's Lynx x Peppy San Badger.) She's 7 yrs old and as the owner has said, "she can follow her nose and lope a circle but that's it. No buck." Too old for a prospect you think? How much would you pay?

Decisions, decisions lol

I'm not sure this post is allowed...just a heads up. If you post a pedigree, people can give you opinions on that. But as far as asking what they are worth, the Price Is Right forum is for that, and that for horses listed on Barrel Horse World. Also, you can't post pictures (and probably videos as well, I'm not certain on that) of horses other than your own. Good luck!

If the horses are near you probably the best thing to do is just go try them out.

Ifthey are ones you'd have to ship then see if you know anyone near where they are who can go look at them for you.

I would go with the first one. I watched her video. Liked her.
