Would you buy a horse property that had arsenic in the well water? Why/why not? (The Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, in particular) Does arsenic get pulled into the grasses and garden veggies?

They have had big articles in our area about arsenic in the water lately.  I actually had our well tested last week for it.  We came back clean.  However, there is an area east of us that it is in.  I personally would find out all I could about it and the damages it could do.  One Dr's wife is really advocating not to use it because their son was linked to arsenic poisioning and he died.

Research will be your friend.

you will find arsenic in most well water...depends on the levels, just get it tested.............but you will be hard pressed to find a well with none........

You definitely don't want it in your water, but you can get filtration systems to take it out. These systems are not uncommon in rural properties. Talk to a well company in your area about it.

Yes, Arsenic is in all ground water, so the question should be about the level.

mruggles is correct. Have the level checked and there are filtration systems available.

If the levels are high, stay away from it. I bought a horse that had extreme levels are arsenic in his system. I did not know this at the time of purchase but later found out after testing. It took over a year putting him on a detox program to get it out of his system and back to normal again.
