Location: You never know where I will show up...... | All of the 5 year old futurities up here are really good and the producers are all fantastic. There's not a "bad" one, really! Most of the futurities start here the first or 2nd weekend of August and there's something to go every weekend within just a few hours of each other. And no you don't start paying into any of them until your colt is old enough to run. Most of the payment start in May of their competition year. The 5 State has a huge payout and only horses sired by eligible stallions can run---definitely worth the trip to SD for the payout and the prizes.
The only things you have to make sure your horses are paid into fairly early are your programs like the BRIF, Future Fortunes, and PESI. The younger you nominate the foal the cheaper it is and those programs offer bonus money at races with no additional entry fees. |
