Well, today has been the coldest its been here so we all stayed in and all the dogs laid around all day. My little dog charlie seemed to be shivering so I covered him up. Later on he snapped at the pup bc he was pestering him and I smacked his butt and he yelped. I noticed he has a lump on his hip when I did that. His hip is swollen and towards the bottom of the bump is purple and blue. I have no idea what could have happened to him. I don't remember him acting strangely this morning and he was in the barn with me or in side so I don't know when something could have happened. I called my bets emergency number and am waiting for a call back. Anybody know what a dislocated hip looks like? It has a hard spot on the swollen part that almost makes me think a spider bite maybe? Idk but I'm worried and I feel horrible for not noticing it earlier. Anything I can give him?

UPDATE: I woke up to the swelling down and him walking a little better. I found some antibiotic and pain medicine from when my other dog had surgery so I think that helped. Vets going go look at him today.
