I'm looking at a couple of different barrel prospects (because LRQHS won't bring me one of her's, LOL). What do you think of Givemalickin bred horses? Also Rare Bar bred horses? Neither one are direct get, but they are grand-get. Prefer one over the other? Bloodlines that are better crosses for either? Thanks!

I have no idea but have you been to Y-Y Quarter Horses in Stevensville?  NICELY bred prospects there.

We have get of both and really like them. An own son of Rare Bar, Rocket Bar bred dam - he is only 3 with a quiet mind and is VERY athletic. The Givemalicken get have proven their worth many times over, but they do not handle abuse well. Will give 110 percent when asked.

That depends on what kind of bird... :)

I'm mostly having a hard time choosing. I want something that will most likely become a winner (doesn't everybody, LOL) yet I can still afford. I hear a lot of good about Rare Bar, but the Givemalickin bloodlines hold their own too...so I thought it would be a good opportunity to become educated!

Givemalickin stood in Alberta and his get are known around here. I'd ride one in a heartbeat.

A horse sized one lol.

I think both the studs you are asking about are pretty nice not sure you could go wrong with either :-)

We have a 7 yr old gelding by Rare Bar that we love.  Very laid back, but that may be from the mare.  We don't know anything about the dam.  He will walk flat footed down the alley and then smoke a run.  Then turn around and help the girl with alley problems walk her horse in.  Oh, did I say that we love him.

Givemealicken, top or bottom, if top side which sire.

I had a direct daughter I ended up with her as she was broncy with previous owners, never had a problem, after 30 days on barrels, my little cousin of 9 could ride her (only reason her horse ended up lame at a jackpot).

I have three grand children of, the oldest is crossed with zan parr bar (grand get) she is very nice you can leave her sit for months, then jump on and ride her she is only 5 no buck. After 2 days on the barrels, she can almost lope the entire pattern nicely.

The 4 yr old is a little hotter, she is a great grand daughter of FWF on the bottom side, within 60 days of riding she was working at the auction mart, and breakaway roped off of.

My yearling is out of a judge cash mare as kind as can be, and he practically halter broke himself.

I find the givemealicken are super smart, show them correctly they will remember, but can also be very forgiving.

There is one givemealicken sire a lot of his foals get sold south of the boarder for mounted shooting horses.

Givemalickin is on the sire's side, goes back to Pana Bar and Vegas Hard Way on the dam's side...all on the papers.

LOL, y'all get enough people wanting an El Scorcho up north and we'll load the trailer down and get Jessi to drive us on up there lol. I will not cross the Canadian border though, because I'm afraid they won't let me back in the US afterwards lol.

I just bought a 3 yr old Givemalickin grandson. The previous owner put about a dozen rides on him in Feb, then turned him out to pasture. I brought him home in Oct, fully expecting to have to restart him, but he completely retained everything he was taught, I did one day of groundwork with him which he sailed right through, then started riding him, he is super level headed, smart and easy to get along with.

Mine is turning out to be similar (I did end up buying him). I have been doing ground work with him as he hasn't ever been ridden yet, and today he had the bareback pad on for the first time, and I cinched it up (not tight, but to where it wouldn't go under his belly) and he did great! Also had his first lesson ponying today, and he did very well. So far I'm loving him!
