I have a finished gelding with some coffin joint arthritis. He used to be on previcox every day but TILDREN and injections keep him sound enough that the only time he needs previcox is when he runs. He is a TOUGH minded horse and I do believe he has some level of pain and just not showing it. I was considering a pain supplement like BL pellets, etc. Has anyone used them? DO they work? It says gentle on the stomach but they all contain a LOT of Devils claw. Thanks!

I think it's something you just have to try. I used the Super Subsitute on a hock problem and it didn't help ~ however, I used it on an older horse with ringbone that was constantly laying down and very sore. He was my daughter's horse and so we tried to keep him going as she was just learning to ride. After about 3 days, that horse trotted everywhere he went and he quit laying down during the day!! It was very impressive.........so give it a try would be my opinion.

Thanks all. I know its not as good as real bute. My horse doesnt really need the REAL stuff, just an inbetween to take the edge off in case he is sore and not showing it to me.

The BL solution worked better than the BL paste, but not nearly as good as plain ole bute. but it did achieve what I expected it to, I actually Bute Less :)

Have you tried Inflammation Relief from THE? My horse gas colics on bute so I had to find an alternative. I really like it and I think it worked great. I feel like it worked just the same as bute or better.
