....the roof. may sound silly, but 30 seconds of jumping up in the bed and checking the roof can save some frustration. almost bought one today and the seller (dealer) didn't mentioned that the roof was hail damaged and pretty bad at that. yet from the ground it looked smooth. when asked about it, they tried their best to make it like it was not a big issue.

Good tip. Buddy of mine has a nice looking truck from the ground and on top of the cab has a spot of paint that has came off and it's rusting about the size of a softball. Can't see it from the ground.

If you are looking at a used truck, ask them if you can take it to your local shop. Pay them for am hour let them give you a list ofwhat is wrong take back,to,owner to,neg. Price.

I would take a truck to the dealership and have them put the truck on the computer. Well, worth $110. The computer was on its way out on mine so had to have it replaced. $2000 This is not something that can be repaired anywhere other than the dealership.
Also, ask for a record of maintenance and repairs. I have had all of my work done at the dealership and they can print out a record of what they have done.
