I have a big bay gelding... I've owned him about 8 years and he's always been a big free runner. I've always ran him in a long shank gag, in the last few months I've noticed he was running, more loping. I switched and put a hack on him, a chain nose, and he woke back up and we free. With the hack he RUNS but he blows by the first, in the bit he turns, but doesn't run at all... Any ideas?

Possibly try a combo bit with your mouthpiece but smaller shanks? Or maybe try to find that hack with longer shanks?
