Anyone feed calf manna? Im thinking of maybe adding some to my horses ration for a little extra. Right now they are on renew gold ,soaked beet pulp & oats. I also noticed today that they make a "horse manna" . Im not sure what the difference is or if one is any better than the other.

I would not add another vitamin product You can get into trouble mixing and over supplementation
Calf Manna may have an application with Renew Gold in some diets if your hay quality is questionable. Since it is 25% protein, it can raise the total protein percentage of the diet if that is a required goal. It does contain corn as the number two ingredient, which I do not use in the diets that I oversee. If I was looking for additional controllable energy beyond Renew Gold in most diets I would be more inclined to add a pound or so of straight Stabilized Rice Bran before I would use Calf Manna.

Thank you. Im just looking to add a little "energy" to the current ration for one horse. My hay is definitely not the best. Its decent. Am in the process of finding better quality.
I supplement my two weanlings with calf manna to provide more protein without feeding a growth feed… they get a 14/6 ration plus calf manna and some alfalfa.
I agree with SG- watch your vitamins and minerals you are already giving… there are some you do not want to double up on, and if you get the vitamin/mineral component out of whack you can create problems.

Calf manna has something in it that a horse shouldn't have. more inclined for cows... but I fed it to my horses all the time. Horse manna doesn't contain that ingredient for the life of me I couldn't tell you what it is.
