My own personal habits have not changed but I have 2 medical personnel in my family that are very concerned. One is an ER nurse. The other is a respiratory therapist and she works in a large hospital in Dallas. She has posted numerous things on her FB that get zapped. One of her comments is that the hazmat suits being shown on the news are NOT available in the hospitals like they are stating on the news. Another concern of hers is Texas A&M has invented a vaccine but the govt seems to be keeping that quiet and not letting it be used or tested. (I don't have the particulars). It is a common topic these days in conversations everywhere I go and yes people are concerned about it. We are concerned that it will not be contained and will spread to the soil, etc..... My close friend had dr appt's today in Dallas and decided to cancel them and wait a few more weeks for things to get more under control just to be on the safe side. I don't blame them either.
I don't live in Texas but do live 5 miles from a lab that is heavily involved in working on ebola and the vaccine with lots of people going to Africa and coming back with no quarantine. The one girls had pulled blood on over 700 people while there. We are also 50 miles from a hospital able to take ebola patients. While we haven't done anything different it is on your mind that we are around people everyday that have been exposed to sick people. I know that the lab workers are very well versed in using the hazmat suits ect and we are probably safe. Sometimes we get to hear information that is not public information really and some of that can make you worry because it has to do how government in handling and what they will and will not allow as far as learning more about virus. Fingers crossed they keep it under control.
You'll be fine! Just don't get sick and go to Presby Dallas emergency room...Just kidding! Seriously, I would not hesitate to go to Dallas. We might go to the State Fair of Texas on Friday and that is in Dallas(Fair Park). There are much scarier things in that area than Ebola.
We're about an hour from Dallas, and I wouldn't hesitate to go there. Right now, I would NOT want to be hanging out in airports/planes, I would feel much more likely to catch a virus there than anywhere.
