I am pretty sure my guy has a bad stone bruise. My farrier (also my better half lol) is going to look at him tonight after work, but I am almost positive it is.
If I am right, how should this be treated? Can it even be or is it just going to be a lot of stall rest and heal time on its own? Is their anything that I can do to help speed up the process or make him more comfortable for the time being?

If it is stone bruise, it will just take time. My horse had one last year and my farrier (also my better half lol) wrapped it up for a few weeks to keep from making it worse and then we just kept him turned out in soft sand. It took about 6 months to heal completely.

As far as relief, soak in hot epsom salt. Then I would use something to harden/ toughen the foot like durasole, reducine, or hearty hoof. Sometimes their being out of balance will cause them to bruise as well.

I am currently dealing with this and am SOO SOO Frustrated with it. Right now I am packing his foot with Magic cushion but it is a SLOW process for sure.
