| I have a 14 yr old mare that recently has just become super lazy when riding at home. If I take her to a barrel race, she is fine and goes in and does her job. I switched her to Safechoice Perform several months ago and she gets THE Muscle Mass and Forco in her feed. She is out on a little grass and also gets some grass hay. She was wormed with Quest about a month ago. She is just "off" and not quite acting right. She is a lazy mare to begin with but will still move out and exercise properly, but lately she just isn't. Just wondering if anyone has experienced issues like this and what you may have done or found out was the reason. I am going to take her next week to get a blood panel done. Also, I am going to PowerPac her to see if that helps. I am kind of thinking slightly anemic possibly, but will see what the blood panel shows. Any ideas or thoughts? | |

| I switched to whole oats and equipride. I have seen a difference in my horse. I don't know what it is. I quit the equipride for a while to try other things. I've tried other great products like PP and THE muscle mass but for this horse the equipride has completely changed him. They are all different. I found taking him off any soy products have helped also. | |

| My horse knows the difference between a show and home. At home they are bored and lazy, no matter what we do, even trail riding. They perk up a little trail riding when we turn for home, but that's it. As long as your horse is staying in shape and working at shows, I wouldn't worry too much about it. | |

I don't know what feed you changed from, but I would be willing to bet it was high/er in carbs than the Safechoice (as it is a low carb feed). As a normally lazy horse, you probably didn't notice the "sugar high" from the old feed on her (like other horses would have gone crazy from), but now that you have taken that away, she is actually acting her true normal. As long as everything else is "normal" (HR, gut sounds, performance at shows, etc.), I would not get too worked up about it. | |
