Mine did not feel lame in the leg at first, only in the shoulder/wither area but as the soreness in his foot progressed it showed up as what appeared to be leg lameness but that was actually the foot as well.

Liana D - 2014-10-21 12:41 PM Unless your saddle has rubbed or pinched your horse's withers it's usually a sign of lower leg soreness , usually a problem in the foot.

Mine didn't limp for the first couple of weeks after a new set of shoes, but then his runs would fall apart. I couldn't keep him comfortable and couldn't pinpoint the issue. One of the subtle symptoms that was always there is he would "shiver" his withers when I would put the saddle pad on or take it off.
Odd lameness issue..
