Location: NeverLand | So I graduate this year. And instead of going on a senior trip when I graduate (May), I want to get a custom barrel saddle. I want to start looking now. And would love some opinions. Like what are the best brands, what saddles do I stay away from. Pros and Cons. Thanks in advance(:

| Josey Ultimate. Mine is the Starlight. The Crystals seem to fall off the Crystal--beautiful saddlel though. Mine was made the way I wanted it and it was about $2200. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | You need to ride in as many different saddles as you can and not go by someone else's opinion as we are all built different along with our horses.
I like you're way of thinking. I would have taken a saddle over a trip anyday.
You also need to take into consideration re-sale value. I got tired of losing half the value of a saddle when I went to sell it. I can get the same amount for what I paid for my Caldwell. Some of the other brands you will lose your butt on. |

| I LOVE my new meleeta Brown Freedom barrel saddle. My horse does, too. The resale seems to be pretty good too. I always was stiff in my hips after riding but not with my new saddle. |

| I think the advice above is great. Maybe your Senior gift could include a small trip around to some larger saddle shops and saddle makers to see what works. Or send out a request to meet with some folks you barrel race with to see if they'd let you try their saddles out. |

Larry Coats. 'Nuff said.
I loooooove my Larry Coats I just got in. It took them 6 months to make it and they told me it would be ready in 3 months, so that was a little bit of a bummer. But it's here now. It cost me $3750 to build because I got 3/4 oak leaf tooling. The pic is of my sister and my new saddle LOL
