I am finally coming to the conclusion that I have to run with a tie down on my gelding. So what is everyone's opintion on standard tie downs verses head setters? Do they put pressure on different places?

I bought him from PJ Burger who used a head setter on him...I tried to run without one but he just doesnt finish his barrel as tight like he doesn with on one. PJ said he uses it to brace himself on. However I just have a normal tie down....I am just wondering if it worth buying a headsetter or not. Just depends on if a headsetter has different pressure points than a tie down.

yup... what she said... usually the head setter allows the nose to go out, but keeps the head down with putting pressure on the poll first.. a tie down keeps the nose down
