Location: NC | Have any of you used Cleantrax?? I read it is supposed to kill thrush in one treatment but sounds too good to be true.... Also when u used it did you use a soak boot baggie things or one of those plasic Davis soak boots?
Also are the Davis soak boots just for soaking or can a horse wear them in the pasture to keep feet clean while trying to clear up thrush?
I have a horse that has had thrush off and on her whole life but this year its the worse it has ever been and I can't get rid of it..... :-/

Location: Mountains of VA | I have used CleanTrax and it does work. The type of soaking boot I used would not be suitable for turnout wear. I highly recommend it, if your horse will not stand quietly, then drug them. Have something to read while you are sitting with them to pass them time.
I also keep the horse that needed it trimmed on a regular basis and at the time of treatment last year, I kept him in a stall on good clean, dry bedding for almost a week. He has not had a problem since but I do stay on top of his feet as far as bringing him in when it is really wet, picking his feet and treating with Kopertox. |

We also use Durasole for thrush. |

Did you use the whole bottle of cleantrax or did you split it say half a bottle to half a gallon of water??
What did you use to treat with after you soaked in the cleantrax? I have a prescription mix from the vet that is some sort of Formalin/iodine mix but wasn't sure it would be save to use after soaking in Cleantrax. |

Location: Opelousas, LA | I have had better luck with White Lightning and it is cheaper to use. I use two oz. WL and two oz. white vinegar in a 3L IV fluid bag with the top cut off after I scrub the foot clean, duct tape the bag around the pastern then put saran wrap around the top to hold the vapor in, 45 minutes and you are done. If you have time, after you dump the liquid out put the empty bag back on the foot and re-duct tape and saran wrap it and leave it on the foot for another 45 minutes.
An 8 oz bottle of WL is around $12 and will do 4 feet the way I use it. Awesome for thrush, white line, abcesses etc. CleanTrax is good too but got expensive and is easy to spill all the liquid, WL is so much cheaper and easier. |

Location: NC | Also is there any oral supplements that help with a horse prone to thrush? would an immune booster help? I think I read somewhere that lowering starch in the diet can help so I am going to switch feeds. |

Clean trax instructions are similar to this as well. I've not used white lightening but have heard it's just as good if not better.
Note on the durasole! I do feel that if used daily, it can and will dry out the frogs and make them very hard. We had a horse we had to use it on daily to kill bacteria, and his frogs got really dry and hard. Didn't take long to get them healthy again though |

Works awesome. So does neosporine with pain relief. Just used both with great success. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | I use provodone/ iodine or straight iodine. Every day I ride I clean the hoof out apply the Iodine in the crack of the frog and the sole ride before putting away clean and apply again. Cleared all of them up. |

I have tried this before and didn't see a dramtic difference but may not have stayed with it long enough. I saw on a hoof website to mix Neosporin, Athlete's foot and Monistat, that way its fighting bacteria, fungus and yeast.... anyone tried that mix? |

This is what I've been using as well and I really think it works great. The one thing people need to remember on this product is you don't need to use THAT much. Clean the foot, squeeze a little bit in and then take a dry brush and "scrub" it in. A little bit of this goes a long way and can last longer than you think. Love it! |
